What is the proposal and why is it happening?
The closure will allow us to increase our resources at the other 2 sites. This will include improving the current services we provide with more appointments and more availability throughout the day and evening and will allow us to introduce more services to the practice. We will have more staff at the 2 sites to assist with more continuity of care and you will be able to use multiple services at the same place.
When would the proposed closure take place? We are looking for the closure to take place in March 25.
Will I still be able to make an appointment to see my usual doctor or nurse?
Yes you will still be able to make an appointment with your preferred nurse or doctor.
How far away are the other surgeries from Rayleigh Road? Belfair’s 335 Leigh On Sea Essex SS9 4LT is 0.9 miles away and Kent Elms 1 Rayleigh Road Leigh On Sea Essex SS9 5UU is 0.5 miles away .
What is the travel time to get to the other surgeries from Rayleigh Road? Is there public transport? There is a bus route to each site. Both are less than a 5 minute drive and around a 10 min walk.
Will there be enough parking at the other surgeries? Yes there is a car park and Kent Elms and a public car park and off street parking at the Belfair’s site.
I usually use the Rayleigh Road Surgery – what will this mean for me as a patient? You will be able to access all services at our other 2 sites. The practice will also be able to improve the services offered and increase the number of appointments available to our patients, as well as these being spread across the opening hours.
Will any service that is currently offered at Rayleigh Road be removed or stopped? No
How can I book appointments? This can be done on the phone, on the NHS app, through system on line and through our system connect service.
Will I have to wait longer for appointments? No we will be able to provide more appointments, meaning your wait time will be less.
Will the current arrangements that I have in place for getting my medicines stay the same? Yes we will not be changing any current arrangements in place for obtaining your prescriptions.
I have a repeat prescription, will the other surgeries be aware of what medications I am prescribed? Yes your records can be accessed at any of our branches you are a patient of the practice not of 1 branch.
What will happen to my medical records? There is no change in our your records are kept as you are a patient of the practice not 1 branch.
I am waiting to see a specialist at the hospital and the GP has referred me, what happens now? Nothing will change.
Will the proposal affect any treatment or medication I am currently receiving either at my surgery or any hospital? No there will be no changes.
Who makes the final decision? We are in the proposal stage. After we have informed patients of the proposal and carefully considered the feedback received, we will produce a final report to be submitted to our Commissioners, NHS Mid and South Essex.
When a final decision has been made we will update the website with information and communicate this to our patients.
