Your NHS health check is a free health screening program aimed at preventing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, and certain types of dementia in adults aged 40-74.
What is included?
During the 20-30 minute check, a health professional will evaluate:
- Blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels
- Weight, height, and body mass index (BMI)
- Diet, physical activity, alcohol intake, and smoking status
- Your risk of developing certain health conditions

Who is eligible?
You qualify for a free NHS health check every 5 years if you are:

- At present not already receiving dementia care
How to Get Your Health Check
- You’ll receive an invitation letter from your GP practice
- Contact your GP if you are eligible but haven’t received an invite
- Some community locations like pharmacies may also offer checks
